Procedure |
|
- Phase A preparation: The components of phase A are heated to approx. 80 °C.
- Phase B preparation: Xanthan gum is dispersed homogeneously in water and glycerine at room temperature with stirring. The aqueous phase is heated to 80°C. Phytic acid and benzyl alcohol are provided separately.
- The phase A is given to the phase B portion by portion with stirring (dissolver) and heated to 80°C.
- The emulsion is cooled with stirring to 60°C. Phytic acid and benzyl alcohol are added in succession with stirring.
- The emulsion is cooled with stirring to 25°C.
- The emulsion is homogenized < 25°C by stirring it for 1 minute or by passing it once over an emulsifying machine at stage no. 5.
- If necessary, the pH is adjusted to 5.0-6.0 using either aqueous citric acid (50%) or aqueous sodium hydroxide (10%).
- Finally the emulsion is deaerated in an exsikkator under vacuum.
